A STILLNESS HEARD ROUND THE WORLD:
THE END OF THE GREAT WAR, NOVEMBER 1918

by Stanley Weintraub

The story of the ending of the Great War. It tells of the last shots fired and the Armistice, the end of the empires of the Central Powers, the situation at the front lines, the fate of the POWs and the collapse of society in Germany. Those memorable days are seen from all sides in the conflict; German, French, British and American. The story ends at a Beer Hall In Munich with the rise of a disillusioned ex-soldier who dismissed the ideas of the old guard in favour of dictatorship. Hitler and the Nazis would grow from the ruins.
