THE BOY'S BOOK OF AIRFIX

by Arthur Ward

Founded in 1939 by Hungarian Nicholas Kove, Airfix holds a unique appeal for boys (and girls) of all ages and has been part of the fabric of childhood for generations. Packed with photos of the kits from the 1950s to the present, this Book is a nostalgic look at one of the greatest brands ever. In addition to the history behind the models it tells of the dramatic twists and turns of the Airfix saga. In 2006 it looked as if the great name might disappear forever when it languished in receivership, only for the company to be rescued by Hornby. If you were ever responsible for sending an Airfix Messerschmidt to a fiery doom from your bedroom window, this book is for you!

GERNIKA: EL BOMBARDEO

by Imanol Villa

The bombing of Guernica in the Spanish Civil War was the first mass air attack on a densly populated town. It was carried out at the behest of the Spanish Nationalist Government by its allies, the Nazi German Luftwaffe's Condor Legion and the Fascist Italian Aviazione Legionaria. It was a war crime by definition, even before the work of Pablo Picasso brought its full horror to the world's attention. A huge international outcry resulted whose echo continues to shake our consciences. The book includes a Spanish language DVD which tells the story through the eyes of those who were there and well known military historians.

Spanish text.

MONTE CASSINO: A GERMAN VIEW

by Rudolf Bohmler

The only tangible result of the three vicious battles fought on the slopes of Monte Cassino were the 50,000 Allied and German casualties. As a Battalion Commander, the author fought in the Cassino battles and he assesses the tactics and evaluates the claims of each particular unit and command, reaffirming that the Germans never used the monastery for military purposes. Translated from the orginal German publication.
