THE CANARIS FILE

Repaired dustjacket torn with pieces missing. Text clean and unmarked. Originally translated from Czech by Roger Ghysens, this edition was translated from French in 1970 by Margaret E. Parker. An officer, known only as A54, in German Intelligence remained in Czechoslovakia after the invasion in March 1939 and continued to pass information to colleagues who had escaped and made their way to London. Anything that crossed the desk of the Head of the Abwehr, Admiral Canaris, had already been viewed by British Intelligence in London. The name of this agent was revealed to be Paul Thumel. He was an officer in the Reich's Counter-Intelligence Service and, in 1942, the Gestapo caught up with him and he was executed by firing squad.
