WEARY: THE LIFE OF SIR EDWARD DUNLOP
by Sue Ebury

Paperback, slight fading on spine.very good. This biography traces the military and medical career of one of Australia's most celebrated war heroes. Born and raised in Victoria, Australia, he qualified as a pharmacist and surgeon. When World War II broke out, he was appointed a surgeon to the Emergency Medical Unit, spending time in Greece and Africa before he was transferred to Java. As commanding officer and surgeon in the POW camps of the Japanese, he became a legend to thousands of Allied prisoners whose lives were saved with meagre medical supplies. In those camps, at great personal risk, he recorded the deprivation and despair of the men under his command.

THE BIG THREE
by Robin Edmonds

Mass market paperback. Covers creased. Signs of use but text unmarked. The three most powerful leaders of the Second World War and their rise to power and their leadership, in the case of Stalin and Roosevelt, in the 1930s while Churchill was in the wilderness. The three only met twice at Yalta and Potsdam and although they were allies fighting a common enemy, the seeds of Cold War were already sown at those meetings. The post war "special relationship" between Roosevelt and Churchill and the Cold War between them and Stalin was concentrated by the atomic bomb: the essential difference between pre- and post-war international diplomacy.
